Weekend Away 2016

Our weekend away 2016 was another great success enjoyed by all. Friday night was a great chance to get-together, meet old friends and welcome new ones. Saturday saw our “Willy Wonka” style Moo Free chocolate factory. The workshop was split into 4 age groups. The little ones had fun decorating biscuits and fairy cakes whilst the next group made chocolate lollipops; cheese straws and gingerbread men.

This was followed by the group making dairy free versions of Snickers and Twix and then the oldest group making dairy free versions of Maltesers and Crème Eggs. All the recipes from the weekend away are avalible in the member's area.

All were a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by the parents in the evening. The groups all spent an hour during the morning at Pat & Anita’s fun diet workshop doing label reading, blindfolded cheese tasting and playing fun learning games.

Whilst the chocolate factory was taking place the alternative workshop was a great sporting event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all those taking part. It was great to see really good little footballers playing the game they loved which they sadly are “never picked for” back home. It gave them confidence to be included and encouraged . Unfortunately they were all so busy taking part we have no photos to share with you!

On the Saturday evening we held an “alternative” race night which was great fun and an easy way to raise over £100 for the group. On Sunday we held our AGM and made the 100 club annual £200 draw. Everyone then made their way to the local pub where the GSG had organised a very tasty lactose free Sunday dinner (including Yorkshire puds and mashed potato). The pub staff were brilliant and we would certainly recommend going there if you are ever in the area - The Tattershall Park, Sleaford Road, Tattershall, Lincs, LN0 4GJ.

Tattershall Lakes was a beautiful location with great accommodation and plenty to do both on and around the Lakes. We thank everyone that joined us for the weekend and helped make it such a success.
